One of the most powerful weapons we have in our arsenal, is the word of God. This is the sword in our armor, the sword of the spirit which is the word of God.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Ephesians 6:17
Jesus knew this very well and used this weapon Himself three times on Satan when he tempted Him in the desert at His weakest moment being hungry after 40 days of fasting, telling his enemy, “It is written…“. This is recorded for us in the gospels of Matthew and Luke.
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4
And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. Luke 4:4
Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Matthew 4:7
And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Luke 4:12
Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Matthew 4:10
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Luke 4:8
Now Jesus was limited in that He could only quote from the Old Testament. We can quote from both the Old as well as the New Testament!
Since Jesus is the word of God made flesh and we are quoting Him and the fact that Jesus won the victory over Satan by His resurrection from the dead, there are so many New Testament verses we can quote, that we can literally throw the book at him! Here are some powerful verses you can quote to the enemy:
It is written…
…As he is, so are we in this world. 1 John 4:17c
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:1
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:2
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Mark 16:17-18
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. John 14:12
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19
Add your favorite verses to this list; personalize and memorize them so that whenever the enemy comes against you and tries to foil you, condemn you, deceive you, or lies to you, slap him around the ears with it, rub his nose in it and hold his his feet to the fire with these 3 little words:
IT IS WRITTEN!
