“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15
Before God created man, He created the angels. He created them perfect, beautiful and without sin. Even Lucifer was created perfect and was called son of the morning and the bright and morning star. Until iniquity was found in him when he tried to exalt himself above God and led many angels astray with him in his rebellion against God. That is when he fell from heaven to earth and from that moment on, he was called Satan, which literally means “Adversary.”
He is currently the prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2) and ever since he caused Adam and Eve to sin, he now roams the earth like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). He is not the terrifying red devil you imagine with horns and a tail sporting a pitchfork but rather a beautiful being that uses his wits and charms to deceive you.
He lays in wait for you and traps you in a snare just like a fowler traps a bird. He whispers lies in your ear to lead you astray. He tempts you with your weaknesses and appeals to your flesh and as soon as he has caught you in sin, BAM! He rushes to accuse you to the Father that you are the one sinning against God. That is why he is called the accuser of the brethren.
Have you ever been deceived by him? Don’t feel bad. This is his design. He is a deceiver and the father of lies. Even Jesus was tempted by him on many occasions. This applies to all of his minions as he is their father.
Now let’s take a look at angels. They are eternal beings who live forever. They do not procreate or have children. Since they do not die, they do not need any posterity to survive as a species. But the word tells us that when many of them saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, they decided to become like men and take the daughters of men to create their own offspring and posterity (Genesis 6:2).
How is this even possible, you say? Remember that angles can take on the form of men. That is why we are told to entertain strangers because sometimes, unbeknownst to us, we may even entertain angels. They can walk among us looking just like any other man or woman.
Here it is in Genesis 6:1-2,
And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
This unholy union of angels and women created the giants of old such as Goliath who stood 13 foot 4 inches tall and who’s shaft of his spear was like a weavers beam. And also Og, the giant king of Bashan, who had an iron bed, 18 foot 9 inches long. Many of them had 6 fingers on each hand and 6 toes on each foot. They were monstrosities.
They taught the men and women secret things like sorcery and witchcraft, the use of roots and plants to make potions and cosmetics (sorry, ladies!) incantations and many other secrets that man was not supposed to know and which are still with us to this day. But their biggest goal in all of this abomination, was their attempt to corrupt the seed of Adam from which it was prophesied that Jesus would come. You see if they could corrupt the pure bloodline, they could prevent the Messiah to be born from pure Adamite stock as was foretold.
Well this sin was so grievous in the eyes of God that the angels who did this are now bound in a place called Tartarus where they await their sentence and eternal punishment in the lake of fire, to be punished forever and ever. Right now it is like they are on death row awaiting their execution. It is for these fallen angles that hell was created. You see, unlike people who are made of earth (carbon) and water, angels are made of fire and air. That is why hell is made of fire and why the final eternal hell is called the lake of fire.
You can imagine that these fallen angels begged for mercy to be forgiven of their crimes. But they were not and never will be. What exactly was their crime? The scriptures tell us in the book of Jude 1:6,
And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
You see, there is no mercy for these fallen angels. They knew better. They were in the presence of God all the time. They knew His will and they knew the punishment for disobeying His will. Yet they chose to sin and break God’s commands by choosing to behave contrary to their design and left their first estate.
They do not have a savior like we do. There was no angel who could become a Son of God who could give his life for them to redeem them. There was no one who paid the price for their sins. So there is no mercy or forgiveness for them at all. What a horrible predicament.
Would any of you like to trade places with one of these fallen angles and face eternal damnation and punishment to be burned in the lake of fire forever and ever? I don’t think so. But sadly enough, there may be some of you today who are in the same predicament. You know that you have rebelled against God. You know that you have believed lies and sinned against God. You know your condition that you are also on death row now just awaiting your final judgement, execution and eternal punishment.
But I have good news for you. Today Jesus offers you an escape. He has made a way out for you. He is willing to substitute Himself for you to take your punishment by the price He has already paid, for you to be set free.
This includes you who have backslidden because Jesus says:
“All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” John 6:37
Paul confirms this:
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13
Even if you have sinned for John says:
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 1 John 2:1
Even Peter confirms that God is not willing that any should perish:
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
You see, hell was not created for man but for fallen angels to punish them for disobeying God’s commands and trespassing His will. It was not created for man. But if man chooses to disobey God’s commands and to trespass His will, then it is not God who sends them to hell. It is man himself, or woman herself, who chooses to go there. God takes no pleasure In the punishment of any man or woman.
For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye. Ezekiel 18:32
God says In His word, choose you this day who you will serve. Not tomorrow or next week or next month or next year. Not when it is a more convenient time. Not right before you die because you do not know the day or the hour that your life will be required of you. It is either Him or the Adversary.
You choose. For there is no in between. Not making a decision is already having made a decision for your own destruction by default.
Choose you this day who you will serve! Today, for you may not see the sunrise tomorrow.
We all know John 3:16, right?
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
But don’t stop there. The next verse tells us that God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:17
He did not send Jesus to condemn you but that through Jesus you can be saved! The next verse tells us why God did this. Are you ready to hear this? Do you want to know why God was willing to sacrifice His own Son so that you could be saved? Listen carefully. Here it is…
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:18
Do you hear that? We are condemned already because we have not believed in Jesus. Read it for yourself in your own bible. If you don’t have a bible, I’m sure that someone will give you one if you ask for one. Or simply download a free bible from the internet. Checkout our Resources page for free bible apps.
Not making a choice for Jesus means that you are condemned already because you do not believe in the name of the only begotten Son of God. If so then you do not believe that the price that Jesus paid on the cross is good enough to save you.
And why is this? If we read the next verses we find out…
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. John 3:19-21
So it is our evil deeds that stand in the way of our salvation. It is in our evil deeds that we think give us pleasure for a season, but they come at a great price. They may be fun and give temporary pleasure but they do not give everlasting joy!
While you hold on to them, it will cost you your life. So how can we possibly say that we are free in our sins when there is such a great price to pay in the end. Is it really worth it? Wouldn’t it be better to give it up now while you still can than to pay the price for it forever? Wouldn’t it be better for you to crucify your flesh yourself than for you to be tortured forever?
The word tells us in Galatians 5:24,
And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
There are many men in jail who will tell you that the cost they are paying is not worth the crime they committed and who would give anything to be able to reverse what they did and get out of jail. This is what they wake up with in the morning and is on their mind every moment of the day until they fall asleep at night. They even dream about it at night.
How much worse would eternal separation from God be forever and ever. Never a moment’s rest. Always in writhing pain and agony and most of all, remorse and regret for not deciding for Jesus when you still had the chance. “If only I had accepted Jesus. If only I had surrendered my life to Him. If only I had made a decision before it was too late. I would be with Him in glory right now, enjoying His company and the company of the saints and have true joy and rest and be at peace for ever and ever. If only…”
Choose you this day who you will serve!
The word says in 1 John 1:8-9,
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Jesus is standing ready and waiting for you, with open arms, calling your name, in love and full of mercy for you to come to Him. There is no condemnation in His voice, no accusations, no judgement. Only love. If you will only come. Then, the moment you do, He cleanses you and makes you white as snow. He removes all your sins from you as far as east is from the west and remembers them no more. Like the prodigal son who returns to the Father, He does not judge or condemn you, but calls for a feast, because you, His son or daughter, were dead and now you are alive.
You see, He is our an advocate with the Father who defends us and overcomes all the lies of the adversary. Not just some, but all of them.
The word tells us that Jesus has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places. The word blessed here is the word “eulogized”. This means that He has said every good thing that He can possibly say about you to the Father and to all who are in heaven.
Now don’t think that you are not good enough. Nobody is. The reason you take your car to the car wash is to get it cleaned, right? Then you drive it around hoping people will notice how clean and shiny your car is.
You need to take your body and soul to Jesus to get them clean. Jesus will cleanse you with His blood and make you brand new. Though your sins be as scarlet, they will be white as snow. And He will give you the Holy Spirit to keep both your body and soul clean by His power that now dwells in you. Then you can go around and show people, look what Jesus did! He took this dirty wreck of a man or woman and made me a brand new creation.
For by grace you are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
We cannot work our way to God. All of our righteousness is but filthy rags to Him. It is Jesus who already did the work on the cross and it is by faith that we accept His free gift and believe.
The apostles once asked Jesus,
…What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he has sent. John 6:28-29
That is the work! To believe in Jesus! If you want to work your way to God, that’s the answer, believe on Jesus whom God has sent to take your punishment upon Himself in your place so that you can be free forever.
Today, I declare you free in the name of Jesus. He has already saved you from your sins. The work is finished. When Jesus hung on the cross, in the last moments when he still had breath, he cried out, “It is finished.” and “Father, into thy hands I commend [commit] my spirit.”
Today, will you commit your spirit into the hands of the living God? Will you accept the indescribable gift he has prepared for you? Will you set yourself free from eternal condemnation to live your life for Jesus in return? It is yours for the asking and yours for the receiving. No one can receive a gift if he does not accept it. Receive your gift today and be set free forever.
If you are ready to give you heart to Jesus today, then pray this prayer from your heart and add your own words to it:
Father, I love. I have always loved You. But I know that I have not always shown it in my heart and in my life. Forgive me for I have sinned against You and against my fellow man. I am truly sorry for what I have done and ask for Your forgiveness with all of my heart. Forgive me all of my sins just as I now forgive all those who have sinned against me. Please wash me clean in the blood of Jesus and make me white as snow. Thank You, Jesus, for giving Yourself to be crucified in my place and paying the full price for my sins, by shedding Your sinless blood and sprinkling it on the mercy seat of the ark of the covenant and hereby purchasing me to Yourself forever. I believe in my heart that You lived, died, were buried and rose again and I confess it now with my mouth. I confess You, Jesus, as my Lord and my Savior. Thank You Holy Spirit for baptizing me into Jesus.
And now, Father, I ask You for Your promise of the Holy Spirit to fill me with power from on high the same as You did to the disciples at Pentecost. Empower me to live a pure and sinless life and to do mighty works for Your kingdom. Help me to lift the name of Jesus above every other name by proclaiming the good news of the gospel to everyone who will hear and by confirming the word with signs and wonders in Jesus’ name. Jesus, I ask You now to baptize me in the Holy Spirit so that rivers of living water will flow forth from my belly and I will speak the wonders of God in my new tongue.
I am now a new creation, born of the Spirit, born again unto new life, born of the water of the word and of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. I am now a son/daughter of the most high God. My name is written in the Book of Life in Heaven. I am a direct heir of God and a fellow heir with Jesus Christ. I have the power and authority of the name of Jesus Christ. I am baptized in the Holy Spirit and empowered with dynamic power and ability from on high. I believe I have received it and I now have it in Jesus’ name. So be it! Thank You, Lord! Amen!
If you have prayed this prayer for the first time, or if you have come back to the Lord, or if you have prayed for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, please confirm your confession of faith below. Welcome to the family!
We would love to hear from you and pray for you to confirm and establish you in your new faith and walk with the Lord. God bless you and keep you in His love.
PS: Remember today’s date…today is your new spiritual birthday!
Next steps:
- Talk to God (pray) and listen to let Him talk to you. Love Him and let Him love you.
- Start reading the bible and believe every word it says even if you do not fully understand some of the things it says yet. If so, ask God to give you wisdom and he will reveal it to you. Begin with the book of James, the gospel of John, the book of Acts and then the rest of the New Testament. Finish the New Testament before even attempting to look at the Old Testament. See the Resources page for some recommended bibles and apps.
- You are a new creation. The old man is dead. Walk like Jesus, think like Jesus, behave like Jesus, do miracles like Jesus (John 14:12). You will need to renew your mind and the spirit of your mind to be able to do this.
- Complete the Divine Healing Technician Training followed by the New Man Series, both available for free on the Training page .
- Find and attend a good solid spirit filled bible church. Be prepared to shop around and leave the moment you hear that what they preach does not line up with what you read in the word. The Holy Spirit will help and convict you in your spirit. In the meantime you can attend church online here every Sunday at 10:00 CST.
- Seek to be baptized in water to signify your new birth in Christ. This is your declaration that you have died , were buried and resurrected with Jesus and have chosen to follow Him.
- Fellowship with like minded believers by joining a team so together you can learn and go out there to minister to others. The JGLM Life Team is a great team to be part of. Find out about Life Teams here or find a Life Team in your area here.
- Checkout our Salvation page for additional information.
