“Saved from what?” you might ask. Separation from God, is the answer. “But I don’t need God in my life.” No, you probably don’t believe that you do at the moment. That’s only because you cannot see the other world yet that is hidden from you right now. But someday you will see it and your eyes will be opened. You only have natural eyes right now. Someday you will have spiritual eyes once your natural eyes have died with the rest of your body. Your spirit will live on and then you will see what you have been missing all this time.
“But I’m not dying. Why would I have to worry about this now?” The statistics are that out of 100 people alive today…100 will die. This is a fact. In all of history, no one has ever left this earth alive yet except for 2 people; Enoch and Elijah. Everyone else has died or will die someday. Your death is inevitable. You can try to extend it but you cannot escape it. You have no choice in the matter. You also have no choice as to when, where or how it will happen, unless you do something foolish to cause it to happen either accidentally or intentionally, the latter of which would have grave consequences you do not want to face. The bible tells us “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” (Hebrews 9:27)
“I’m not concerned. Whatever happens will happen. I will deal with it when it comes.” You know, people spend 50 weeks a year planning for a 2 week vacation. But how much time do they spend on planning their eternal vacation (vacating this world, that is)? Yet, it is inevitable that you will leave this world and travel into the next world someday. Some sooner than others.
I simply cannot imagine going somewhere without knowing where I will wind up. It only makes sense that for your vacation you would plan your travel arrangements ahead of time to make sure your trip goes smoothly. You make sure your travel documents are up to date and in order so that you are not hindered from traveling. You plan your hotel to make sure that you have a decent place to sleep. You plan your transportation to make sure that you get where you are going and are not stranded somewhere. You plan your day trips to make sure that you have excursions and things to see and do. You plan your entertainment so that you will have something to enjoy. You plan your meals so that you will be able to eat along the way and not be hungry. You plan your banking and financial arrangements so that you know that you will not run out of money while you are away from home. You plan everything in the greatest detail and leave nothing to chance except maybe some of your meals, snacks and drinks, trusting that you will find plenty of venues along the way.
But when it comes to planning for leaving this world to travel to the next one, now you are willing to leave it all up to chance? Excuse me, but that just does not make any sense at all. Wouldn’t you want to make the same careful arrangements as you do for a vacation?
What if you were kidnapped? Imagine you were in a foreign country of which you do not speak the language. While you are window shopping with your family, a black van pulls up and four thugs jump out and grab you and throw you into the back of the van. They tie your hands until the rope cuts into your skin and they blindfold you. They put a rag in your mouth and tie a gag around your head to keep you from being able to scream or say anything. Then they start beating you mercilessly all over your body. You are bleeding. Your bones are being broken. You are drifting in and out of consciousness from the pain. They drive for hours and hours not saying a word that you can understand. Now terror begins to set in and fear overtakes you. What do they want from me? Why are they doing this to me? What do I have that they could possibly want? What if they kill me, take my wallet and my passport and leave me for dead on some forsaken road? What if I never see my family again, ever? Oh, God, please help me!
Hold it! Wait a minute. Now you want God to help you? What happened to your pride? What happened to your independence? What happened to your self reliance? You are a helpless victim with no one around to help you. No one knows what happened to you. Nobody know where you are. No one is coming to your rescue. You are lost and all alone.
Now picture this happening when you die, because this is pretty close to what will happen in actuality without Jesus to rescue you. Except the thugs will be devils. The restraints will be eternal. The darkness will last forever. The pain will never stop. And, yes, you will be all alone…forever, separated from God for all of eternity.
“What is this judgement? Nobody is my judge. Why should I be judged?” How would you like to argue that standing naked in front of God Himself, the Judge of all the universe, all by yourself, with a powerful angel on each side of you ready to escort you to your final destination. Then it would be too late for you to raise any defense whatsoever. You see the bible tells us what will happen to us. Its God’s love letter because He does not want any of us to be lost. Have you read it yet? That is why He sent His Son to save us. Only when we believe in Jesus can we escape the Great White Throne Judgement. Only now, while we are still alive, do we have a choice in the matter as to what will happen to us and where we will end up.
“But I’m a good person! I haven’t murdered anybody. I haven’t robbed a bank or cheated on my spouse.” Compared to whom? Not compared to Jesus. Be honest now, you have never told a lie? You have never stolen anything at all? You’ve never cheated anyone of anything? You have never not forgiven someone or held a grudge against someone or hated anyone? You have never sinned? You are pure as the driven snow? Even if that were the case, all of your righteousness is as filthy rags in God’s eyes and cannot save you. Only Jesus sacrifice of the shedding of His righteous blood on the cross as the sinless Son of God, can wash away all of your sins and make you clean again. Nothing else.
When Adam sinned, he rebelled against God and surrendered us to the enemy under whose bondage the whole world has been held captive until now. But God the Father loves us so much that He gave us His one and only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not have to perish but will be saved and have everlasting life (John 3:16). Jesus came to pay the price for our sins and to reconcile us to the Father. Jesus paid the ultimate price by dying in our place and paying the full price for our sins so we don’t have to.
Here is the good news! God did not send Jesus to condemn us but that through Him we can be saved (John 3:17). Whoever believes in Jesus is not condemned. But whoever does not believe in Jesus is condemned already because they did not believe in the name of the only begotten Son of God (John 3:18).
“I am not ready to choose anything.” That is up to you. Just know that not making a choice is already a choice for the enemy by default. Hell was not created for man. It was prepared for the devil and his angels (Matt 25:41). God does not want to send anyone there. But the choice is given to man as to whom he will serve in this life and where he chooses to go when he dies. If he chooses to serve God and chooses God’s provision of His Son, Jesus, then he will be saved. If he chooses to serve himself and does not choose to believe in Jesus, then he is none of His and cannot lay claim to any of God’s salvation. By default you will then remain the property of the enemy. And at death, you will be claimed by the one who owns you.
There is no middle ground. There is no neutral zone. There is no wait and see. Death is final. The only chance for salvation is right here and right now. Tomorrow is promised to no one. Just look around at those who have died before you. It could have been you. God has spared you so far. He has had mercy on you, not willing that you should perish but rather that you would come to repentance and turn to Him so He can save you. It is in your hands.
Friend, you do not know if you will wake up tomorrow morning. Or if you will survive a stroke or heart attack. Or if you will make it across the street safely. Don’t risk all of eternity for some temporary pleasure that cannot satisfy.
Only Jesus can satisfy all of your needs, not only now in this life, but in all of eternity. There are joys and pleasures forevermore at His right hand which you have no idea of yet that far outweigh anything in this life and which will only be revealed to you once you go to be with Him in glory. The time to make a choice is right here and right now.
Choose you this day whom you will serve!
If you are ready to forsake your old life and let Jesus give you a brand new life, and make you a new creation, then pray this prayer from your heart and add your own words to it:
Father, I love. I have always loved You. But I know that I have not always shown it in my heart and in my life. Forgive me for I have sinned against You and against my fellow man. I am truly sorry for what I have done and ask for Your forgiveness with all of my heart. Forgive me all of my sins just as I now forgive all those who have sinned against me. Please wash me clean in the blood of Jesus and make me white as snow. Thank You, Jesus, for giving Yourself to be crucified in my place and paying the full price for my sins, by shedding Your sinless blood and sprinkling it on the mercy seat of the ark of the covenant and hereby purchasing me to Yourself forever. I believe in my heart that You lived, died, were buried and rose again and I confess it now with my mouth. I confess You, Jesus, as my Lord and my Savior. Thank You Holy Spirit for baptizing me into Jesus.
And now, Father, I ask You for Your promise of the Holy Spirit to fill me with power from on high the same as You did to the disciples at Pentecost. Empower me to live a pure and sinless life and to do mighty works for Your kingdom. Help me to lift the name of Jesus above every other name by proclaiming the good news of the gospel to everyone who will hear and confirming the word with signs and wonders in Jesus’ name. Jesus, I ask You now to baptize me in the Holy Spirit so that rivers of living water will flow forth from my belly and I will speak the wonders of God in my new tongue.
I am now a new creation, born of the Spirit, born again unto new life, born of the water of the word and of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. I am now a son/daughter of the most high God. My name is written in the Book of Life in Heaven. I am a direct heir of God and a fellow heir with Jesus Christ. I have the power and authority of the name of Jesus Christ. I am baptized in the Holy Spirit and empowered with dynamic power and ability from on high. I believe I have received it and I now have it in Jesus’ name. So be it! Thank You, Lord! Amen!
If you have prayed this prayer for the first time, or if you have come back to the Lord, or if you have prayed for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, please confirm your confession of faith below. Welcome to the family! We would love to hear from you and pray for you to confirm and establish you in your new faith and walk with the Lord. God bless you and keep you in His love.
PS: Remember today’s date…today is your new spiritual birthday!
- Talk to God (pray) and listen to let Him talk to you. Love Him and let Him love you.
- Start reading the bible and believe every word it says even if you do not fully understand some of the things it says yet. If so, ask God to give you wisdom and he will reveal it to you. Begin with the book of James, the gospel of John, the book of Acts and then the rest of the New Testament. Finish the New Testament before even attempting to look at the Old Testament. See the Resources page for some recommended bibles and apps.
- You are a new creation. The old man is dead. Walk like Jesus, think like Jesus, behave like Jesus, do miracles like Jesus (John 14:12). You will need to renew your mind and the spirit of your mind to be able to do this.
- Complete the Divine Healing Technician Training followed by the New Man Series, both available for free on the Training page .
- Find and attend a good solid spirit filled bible church. Be prepared to shop around and leave the moment you hear that what they preach does not line up with what you read in the word. The Holy Spirit will help and convict you in your spirit. In the meantime you can attend church online here every Sunday at 10:00 CST.
- Fellowship with like minded believers by joining a team so together you can learn and go out there to minister to others. The JGLM Life Team is a great team to be part of. Find out about Life Teams here or find a Life Team in your area here.
- Checkout our Salvation page for additional information.
