It is ironic that so many self professed believers refuse to do the work that God the Father and Jesus our Lord have assigned to us.
It is like they have never heard this before or rings as a foreign language in their ears. Or they claim that this work was for the disciples only and does not apply to them for today with which they right away exclude themselves as disciples, right?
Many people who quote scripture, most do it as by rote. As if they are quoting a law or statute or a rule of some formal entity or organization. Or as if a quote from Shakespeare.
Unattached, impersonal and as such ineffective. And even if with great display of emotion, they simply do not “own” it.
Nor do they hold it forth as the word of life.
Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain. Philippians 2:16-18
